But First We Rest - Post Summer Camp

Summer Camps across the country are wrapping up or are already finished for the summer.

As summer camp is wrapping up, Camp Directors across the country are already looking towards summer 2022.  There is a lot to do; plans to be made, evaluations to collect, staff to hire, facility and grounds projects to tackle, programs to update and the list goes on.  These things are important and we need to get after them in order to have the best summer possible next year.

But first - simply rest

But first - simply rest.  As camp professionals, you have been working, worrying and delivering for months.  Your body is likely tired, your emotions drained and your mental health needs a chance to catch up.  It’s ok to take a break.  Now is the time to do that.  Take a break, you deserve it.

You need time to simply breathe and be you

As camping professionals we often get caught up in the idea that we need to work all of the time, many of us even wear it as a badge of honor.  But it is not healthy.  You need time to rest.  You need time to reflect.  You need time to simply breathe and be you. You need to see family and friends to reconnect after a busy summer.

Taking care of yourself is not selfish, it’s a professional responsibility

Your camp is better when you are healthy.  Taking care of yourself is not selfish, it’s a professional responsibility.  So take a break.  You’ve earned it.  Leave camp in the rear view and go somewhere you can be yourself without the worries and stress of your job.  Recenter.

We will start working on planning summer 2022 together, when you are back.
