Reasons for an Annual Campaign
Dave discusses multiple reasons to operate an annual fundraising campaign.

Below is the video transcript:

Annual Campaigns are a great way to raise money, but are really much more than a fundraiser.

Volunteers

Volunteer development and engagement is a great reason to create an annual campaign.  Getting our volunteers to be active for our cause is powerful and will help our organizations become stronger.  It will also give us an opportunity to interact and get to know our volunteers on a closer level and maybe most importantly for volunteers, an annual campaign acts as a way for us to bring in new volunteers.

Donors

Donor development is another great reason to have an annual campaign.  The process of an annual campaign gives us the opportunity to reach out to new donors and give existing donors an opportunity to choose our organization as one of their charities of choice.  Donors can be reached of all sizes from a small donor to a larger donor and given the opportunity to grow annually as their relationship with your organization develops.

Sharing Your Story

Sharing your story is important to the health of your organization.  An annual campaign creates a platform for you and your volunteers to share your story with the community you serve.  Letting people know what you do, why you do it and how it makes the world a better place is an important message to get out.

Relationship Building

Relationship building is at the heart of what we do in nonprofit work.  An annual campaign helps us lift that priority up, making time to focus on important relationships at least once a year, and hopefully helps us develop a relationship that leads to many contacts a year through personal discussions and updates shared to all volunteers and donors..

Creating a Culture of Philanthropy

Creating a culture of philanthropy will serve your organization over and over again.  A well ran annual campaign will help facilitate that culture, by bringing donors together with a need and hearing your story each year.  That culture in time will lead to larger gifts and more support for capital or other giving projects.

Peer To Peer

Annual Campaigns can take different forms, including annual mailers, fundraising events and more. At The Sherry Group, LLC we teach a peer to peer model of annual campaigning.  We believe developing and maintaining relationships is the most important thing you can do to keep your organization healthy.  We also believe, for all the reasons already stated, that a well ran peer to peer campaign is a great way to achieve building those relationships while working towards your financial goals.
